Raised on the coast of Southern England in a family of maritime trades & pastimes, you could say the ocean runs in my blood. At a young age I was taught to navigate the sea by my parents & brothers; sailing, surfing & rowing. Maps of all forms have always fascinated me, but the depths & pilotage of the seas piqued my curiosity - perhaps due to its ever-changing & often unknown state.
Since graduating in Ocean Exploration & Surveying at Plymouth University in 2018, I have worked as a Hydrographic Surveyor mapping the seabed. My career has taken me from small surveys on British estuaries to oceanic research ships in the Arctic Circle.
During my time as a surveyor, I have often found myself in awe at the strikingly beautiful features found subsea. Naturally, I’ve yearned to share these discoveries with others in an artistic rendition.
Not only can 3D models decipher technical datasets, but they can also provide unique, aesthetic representations. Contours of any map or chart, can be brought to life, often resonating with the viewer - especially if that area was prominent in their life. Take the Solent for example, I love to gaze at the shapes of the shoals, running my fingers over the features that I have often sailed by.
By utilising modern technologies, we are able to view the world in ways that we never have before. This blurring of creative lines can be often shunned or embraced.. Why not take a look at my creations and decide for yourself?
